A/N: I really appreciate reviews!!! :-) This starts during that ep where Lex had all those bugs in his house, then shoots off into my own world."Clark?"
An oblivious Clark continued to bounce his tennis ball off the wall of his room, letting it hit hard enough to come flying back into his hands before throwing it again. Lex had come to learn in the month he'd been at the Kent home that this was a sign that Clark was deep in thought about something.
"Oh Clark."
The steady thumping continued. Clark didn't so much as twitch in response to Lex's calls, thought glazed eyes hardly blinked. Lex sighed.
"I had a really bad craving yesterday and ate your secret stash of chocolate."
Clark blinked and this time didn't throw the ball again. "What?"
Lex smiled to himself. Worked every time. "I asked what you were thinking about."
"Oh," Clark tossed the ball onto the floor and watched it roll under the bed before answering "I was thinking maybe we should go see Jor- el."
Lex frowned slightly. Clark had told him all about Jor-el a week ago and Lex wasn't sure what he thought of him. On one hand, what Jor-el did could be seen as good, as helping people. On the other it could be seen as evil. Lex supposed it was about the result in the end, he just wasn't sure about Jor-el's methods.
"Are you sure?" Lex asked slowly.
"No," Clark answered instantly. "It's just...we have to do something. We know so little about this bond and your pregnancy. For all we know it's longer then a humans, or shorter. Maybe it has complications a humans doesn't, and like you pointed out a month ago, where does he/she come out?"
Lex winced; he'd been trying really hard not to think about that. "Right. Do you want to go now?"
Clark nodded. "Yeah. Lets get it over with. You go get the truck, I'll get the key."
Clark took off towards the barn and Lex headed out towards the truck after grabbing the keys from the little table beside the door.
It still felt strange driving an older truck after having driven new and fancy cars his whole life. He'd left his cars behind at the mansion when Clark had him move into the Kent house two days after they'd discovered Lex was pregnant.
Clark appeared in the passenger seat just as Lex started the truck. "Are you sure you don't want me to drive?" Clark asked, reaching out and placing a hand over Lex's.
Lex smiled. He found it endearing how concerned Clark was. "I'm fine, Clark," He assured him.
"Okay but if you feel sick or anything at any point let me know and I'll drive."
"Alright," Lex nodded and pushed down one the gass.
"My dad's going to kill you if he ever finds out you drive his truck like this," Clark said with a grin as they roared out of the driveway and onto the road.
"I know," Lex grinned back. "But I'm not even sure if I know how to drive slower."
Clark chuckled. "Just be careful."
"Wouldn't that involve slowing down?"
"You know what I mean."
The truck was pulled to a sharp stop twenty minutes later as they pulled up near the caves. Clark reached into his pocket to fiddle nervously with his key as they walked towards the wall.
"Should I stay out of it?" Lex asked when they reached it.
Clark stared at the key for a moment before nodding. "You're only half kryptonian, it may hurt you."
Lex nodded. "Alright. But don't leave out any details, okay?"
Clark nodded and slipped the key into the hole.
Lex sat down on a large rock nearby and watched as a bright light appeared, blocking Clark from his view. He cast a wary eye towards the entrance of the cave, hoping his father or some curious teen wouldn't wander down at the wrong time.
Several minutes passed and Lex began to fidget. He reached into a coat pocket and fiddled with the first thing he found there; a pen.
Finally the light vanished and Clark reappeared. Lex cast a quick look to his face and relaxed immediately when he saw Clark wasn't worried, in fact he was smiling.
"Everything's fine, I take it?"
Clark nodded. Lex stood and the two started to walk back towards the truck. "Everything's fine. Jor-el seemed really pleased, actually. He said your pregnancy is only five months long instead of nine and that you'll start to show in two weeks. He said once that happens your morning sickness will go away but you'll be really touchy about things."
"So I only have three and a half months?" Lex said in surprise. "That's...a bit of a relief, really."
Clark laughed as he opened the truck door for Lex. Lex punched him playfully on the shoulder for doing it before climbing in. "I don't get to drive this time?"
"No," Clark said, climbing in the other side and starting the truck. "Just go with me, okay? Sometimes I worry too much."
Lex chuckled. "I don't mind. Did you ask how he/she is born?"
"Yeah. All he said was it might be startling but not to worry because everything would be fine. He didn't really give me any details but I think it's fine."
Lex nodded. "Great."
There was silence for only a moment. Lex saw the look on Clark's face that meant he hadn't told him something. "What else?"
Clark grinned again. "Um...Jor-el said on month four you're going to be...well, really really horny. A LOT."
"Great."
Clark blinked. "What?"
"I said great. I'll finally get laid."
Clark blinked again, then threw his head back and laughed.
"Did you...I mean, I thought you wouldn't want to because..." Clark tried to say when the laughter had stopped.
Lex just chuckled and punched Clark again. "Believe me, Clark, I'm up for it pretty much whenever. No pun intended."
"Ha ha," Clark pulled into the driveway much more carefully then Lex ever did, glancing at the watch around his wrist as he did so. "I'm hungry, do you want anything to eat when we get there?"
"Yeah, I'll make something," Lex told him.
"Nuh uh," Clark smiled at little embarrassedly. "Just tell me what you want. I...kinda like taking care of you."
For a moment Lex didn't say anything, he just watched Clark until the truck had stopped. Then when they were heading towards the house Lex reached out and took Clark's hand before saying "I'm fine with that."
---
Two weeks later
Was Clark stupid? Was he brain damaged in some way that Lex didn't know about? Because this...was...stupid.
Two months. No a little more then that, now. And still Clark hadn't said it. Lex knew he felt it, Lex felt it too, but he wanted Clark to say it first. Every time he tried to express feelings first the other person left him.
Clark came back into the room where Lex was cuddled up on the bed, carrying a bowl of ice cream. He smiled at Lex as he placed the bowl on a small table near the bed within easy reach before sitting down on the edge of the bed and reaching over to gently massage Lex's head with is fingertips. Lex practically purred even as his inner rant continued.
Yes. Clark Kent was stupid. The feeling was right there on his face, in his eyes, so plain even Lex could see it. So why wouldn't he SAY IT!
"Clark?"
"Yeah Lex?"
Lex put on his best pout, making Clark's eyes widened slightly. "You forgot the cherries."
Lex grinned when Clark leaned down and grabbed the pouting lower lip with his teeth, biting down gently before covering Lex's mouth completely. Lex let out a happy little moan when Clark's tongue entered his mouth.
Clark pulled back and leaned his forehead agianst Lex's. "Want me to just bring up the whole jar?"
Lex laughed and nodded. Clark disappeared back downstairs. Lex stretched slightly before sliding one hand over his slightly swollen stomach. He chuckled slightly, remembering how he and Clark has first reacted.
It had been the first morning of month two and overnight Lex's stomach and grown rounded. Not very much, nothing a loose shirt couldn't hide but it was obvious without one. After the initial shock Clark had grown so excited that at first he couldn't hold still. Then he'd spent nearly an hour with his head on Lex's stomach, using his super hearing to see if he could hear any signs of the baby.
Clark returned with the small jar of cherries and placed them on the table next to the ice cream. Lex dumped a large amount on before digging into the chocolately mess.
"I don't think I've ever seen anyone put that many cherries in their ice cream," Clark said in amusement.
"Mmm," Lex replied around his mouthfull. "Cherries and chocolate are the best mix."
"I like orange and chocolate," Clark said. "And sometimes mint."
Lex made a face. "I hate mint. It makes me sneeze."
Clark laughed. "Me too but I still like it."
The two fell silent until the ice cream had been consumed. Then Lex said "We need to do something about my father and work."
"Oh, I had an idea about that," Clark said. "What about drugs? I mean, we could plant some somewhere that he'd find them and it would explain your odd behavior and he'd probably make you stop working or something till you quit."
Lex just stared at Clark and Clark started to fidget. "It's dumb, isn't it?"
"Actually I was wondering why I hadn't come up with that myself," Lex said with a grin. "That's brilliant."
How can you be so stupid and so smart all at once? Lex wondered.
"Really? Well, great! Should we go do that now?"
Lex nodded. "Yeah. I'm not feeling to moody right now, so I guess we should get it done before I start...whining about everything again."
"Whining?" Clark said in a mock tone of disbelief. "Whining? That's what you call it? Huh, I seem to remember you sobbing over..."
Clark didn't get to finish his sentance because Lex pounced. Clark went crashing to the floor with Lex on top of him and suddenly Clark didn't want to go do the Lionel thing quiet yet.
Lips latched onto his neck and Clark groaned even as a grin escaped. "So...sex first, then Lionel/work thing?"
Lex chuckled against his skin. "Definately."
